Pregnancy and hair care(non sulfate shampoos)?
who here uses or has used non sulfate/organic shampoo's? I just bought my first non sulfate shampoo and conditioner at the Whole Food's Market today and I'm just curious as to how they work..if they're good. Since I have gotten pregnant my hair has been hell...it's curly and I heard that these types of shampoo's will help because they are all natural.Pregnancy and hair care(non sulfate shampoos)?
I have used a vegan shampoo before before pregnancy and it worked great but it was VERY expensive. all you can do is try it and see how it works. Everyones hair is different preg or not preg.. good luck

Do you know alot about shampooing and hair care?
Am I shampooing correctly?
I gently massage my scalp with shampoo %26amp; conditioner (in one) but not too hard because I think I might loose hair if I do...?...
Then I gently stroke my hair at the sides and back to wash the rest.
I get greasy hair after 2 days so I wash it every 2 days.
I ask because I don`t want to loose hair as I don`t want to wash it too often and get split ends, but I don`t want to loose hair by massaging wrong.
What do you think?Do you know alot about shampooing and hair care?
Do not feel bad about giving your scalp a good scrub. It stimulate blood flow to the hair follicle and promate healthier hair. You can't prevent spilt ends...it's inevitable. However, you can keep them under control with regular trims.
Start at the hairline and work your way to the nape of the neck. Apply enough pressure with the pads of your fingers or your nails...whatever feels best to you.
Professional products are always best as the don't buildup on the hair as fast and hey are formulated to build strength and elasticity within the hairshaft.
There are 2 important things to remember when you're conditioning....
1. Squeeze the excess water out of your hair before you apply the conditioner. Your hair is like a sponge. If you put a soaking wet sponge on water....it won't do anything because it's full of water. If your hair is full of water....the conditioner will go down the drain. If you put a damp sponge on water....it soaks the water up. The same thing happens with damp hair...the conditioner will go INTO the hairshaft.
2. Rinse the conditioner with lukewarm water. Luke warm to your hands...it will feel slightly cool on your head. If you use very hot water...you will open the cuticle layer and flush out all the conditiner you just put in...back down the drain. Luke warm water will rinse the excess off the outside of the hairshaft....but the inside will retain the what you put in.
Apply a thermal proctectant to the hair prior to blowdrying.
Finally finish with a moisturizing leave-in conditoner. This can be applied to wet or dry hair.
Some suggestions for product:
Loma
Hydrating Shampoo
Hydrating Conditoner
Pearitin Serum
Paul Brown Hawaii
Booster ( Thermal protectant)
You can check with a professional about other lines sold in salons. They can tell you what would be best for your hair.
The only way to get rid of split ends is to trim them.
If you're wanting healthier hair....then read the following..;)
Everyone's hair grows an average of an half an inch a month. If you wait more than 4-5 weeks to trim the split ends off....eventually they break off. When that happens you break off more than the half inch you grew.
However, if you trim the very ends every 4 weeks to prevent the breakage from occuring in the first place...you will keep most of that half inch you grow every month. Combine that with a salon shampoo and conditioner....and you can get 6 or more inches of healthy hair every year.
The biggest trick is finding that special hairdresser than will only trim the very tips. If you explain what you're doing...they should work with you of getting the length to where you want it. The other thing in growing your hair out is to always grow from style to style....not length to length. That way you're never going to be bored with your hair and be tempted to cut it off...;)
Always use professional products, they are formulated to not buildup on the hair as fast and to actually strengthen the hairshaft. There is no magic to getting long hair. You can try all the little concoctions people suggest....but the bottom line is you hair will grow from the root no matter what you do to the already grown hair. Once the hair has left the follicle...it's consider dead keratin protien. You just need to treat it right so it stays looking nice.Do you know alot about shampooing and hair care?
Sounds right to me.
I don't shampoo more than a couple times a week. Sometimes I use only conditioner or other times just water. I don't use styling products. My hair doesn't get nearly as shiny as when I wash more frequently, but I save money on shampoo and conditioner and I also lose less hair.
Oh, and I never blow dry.
As a hairdresser, when i shampoo a ladies hair, usually they only come in every week so i have to make sure it is clean, what i do is...
get the shampoo and massage over the hair so all the hair is covered in shampoo, and conditioner. then gently massage the top of your scalp in circular motions, pressing down on your scalp, as doing so stimulates the blood flow - giving the hair a quicker growth.
then go to the side burns- the hair by both sides of the ears, and rub vigorously for a few seconds.
afterwards, start on the back of the head and gently massage again pressing down on the head as to stimulate the blood flow again, then do the ends of your hair however you like, i find it helps, that if you have long hair, to place the hair between your hands and rub vigorously again. then wash out.
this should help your hair grow and keep it clean for more than two days.
if your hair tends to be a bit greasy after 2 days it's probably caused by the conditioner.. you should use it only for your tips not on the scalp. also make sure you are using the right kind of shampoo for your hair. it is better to use the proper shampoo followed by the proper conditioner for your hair texture. As for gentle scalp massage when you shampoo your hair, you're doing it the right way.
Should your hair is fine in texture and get tangled easily, I would suggest a leave-in treatment serum in order to minimize loosing hair when detangling
ive done some research on the net. washing every two days is good. try a separate shampoo and conditioner. as for your hair falling out, certain shampoos actually have chemicals that cause your hair to fall out with use over time. try all natural shampoos from a health store.
Firstly,, I Read In A Magazine That You Shouldnt Put Your Conditioner On M yMassaging It Into Your Scalp,, You Should Just Smooth It On From Your Roots To The Tips,
Secondly,, If You Keep Washing It Once Every Two Days You WIll Be Fine
Actually, yes - what you need to do is - once your hair is completely wet, - THEN massage your scalp. This will bring all the dirt to the top. Now you want to wash it. I wash mine twice every two-three days.
Next step? A Good Conditioner for YOUR hair type. Ex. - If your hair is fine, use a light one. Curly or damaged? Use a deep moisturing one - leave on two minutes then rinse.
You will not lose your hair this way, however, so don't worry about it. You could lose hair if you don't keep it in good shape - overcolouring, dry hair needs to be trimmed - even an inch - and moisturized.
If you keep getting greasy hair - I've had that experience - It's only because you have a build-up of that shampoo.
Just go to the store and buy one with an astringent - Neutrogena and Pantene both make 'Clean' shampoos. They are usually clear in colour. That problem will disappear immediately - trust me, I've been there! :-)

For those using male grooming products like shampoos, bodywash,Skin care etc.?
Guys when u go to the retail stores in US to buy the male groomig products. What do u look for, is it good brand name, Price, in store promotional offers etc.For those using male grooming products like shampoos, bodywash,Skin care etc.?
Mostly the price and the look. I actually tend to buy the more macho shampoo and body wash. All my products have the word, ';mountain air';, or ';evergreen';. Things that also say 24 hour is a good buy (mainly deodorant).
So I go by what they package it as.eye makeup
